Jury in Hadiya Pendleton watches confession tape

On Tuesday, jurors in the Hadiya Pendleton trial heard Micheail Ward's confession to the Chicago Police Department.

During the confession, Ward says the classmates she was walking with threw her in the way of the shots.

One of the detectives then asks if it seemed like they were trying to shield themselves. Ward responds, “Yeah, they threw her in the way.”

The confession was presented more than a week after Hadiya's family and friends gave their testimonies.

Ward’s attorneys fought to have the video of his confession tossed out, because they claim police manipulated him into making a false confession.

Only about four hours of the interrogations was played in court.

The jury was able to hear when Kenneth Williams, the alleged getaway driver, comes up in the conversation. Ward says he did not want to be the shooter and admits to doing it, but said Williams threatened to kill him if he did not shoot.
