President Trump calls for "Stop and Frisk" in Chicago

President Donald Trump is talking Chicago gun violence again. This time he is calling for the Chicago Police Department to use the controversial “Stop and Frisk” policy.

The comments come just a few days after the Jason Van Dyke verdict, and the conversation around police tactics in Chicago.

Organizations like the ACLU say Stop and Frisk encourages racial profiling, but the President Trump says it is an effective strategy to stomp out crime.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is rejecting Trump’s proposal, calling “Stop and Frisk” a failed policy that would damage public trust in the police department. However, as he has done any time Trump references Chicago, Emanuel says he welcomes federal DEA, ATF and FBI assistance.

Trump says he has ordered Attorney General Jeff Sessions to immediately come to the city to direct the initiative.
