100 days ago Lori Lightfoot took over the Office of Mayor with a promise of change

A couple hundred people greeted Mayor Lori Lightfoot with a standing ovation as she kicked off her 100 days in office channeling her motto: change has to come. Lightfoot says over these past months her administration has taken the steps to deliver reforms, policies, and legislation such as good government and ethics, financial stability, and public safety. A good start, but reform is still in progress. Lightfoot’s priority is to ensure a change in Chicago’s economic map.Her confident demeanor quickly turned emotional when talking about the youth in communities affected by crime.“I’ve seen firsthand what is lost when a young person can’t see how great their potential is,” says Lightfoot. The challenges Chicago faces today did not happen overnight, and Lightfoot adds they won’t be solved overnight.
