Community Activists File a Lawsuit to Stop Lincoln Yards Development

The Lincoln Yards development is the land between Lincoln Park and Bucktown, along the Chicago River. Brian Hopkins, one of the Alderman of that 168 acre space, says more than 150 years of industrial abuse have worn down the area. This lawsuit argues that isn’t the case at all. Activists say the area doesn’t meet the statutory requirement for blight, and therefore doesn’t qualify for all that money. It also goes even further, saying the city is violating civil rights laws by not using TIF dollars for communities of color. Brandon Pope has a break down
