Empire Actor Jussie Smollett Has Turned Himself In

There have been major developments in the Jussie Smollett investigation.

The actor turned himself into police early Thursday morning. He’s being charged on one count of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report.  Illinois code says that’s punishable for one to three years.

Smollett turned himself in at CPD Headquarters in Bronzeville at 5 a.m. Police say he was being very cooperative and was very quiet. In fact, police add Smollett’s attorneys were doing all the talking.

The latest update from CPD is confirming Smollett is under arrest and in custody. There will be a press briefing with Superintendent Eddie Johnson and other detectives involved with the case later on this morning.

Smollett first reported the hate crime on January 29th. According to him, he was walking home when he was approached by two men. Smollett says those two men who attacked him yelled racial and homophobic slurs, poured a bleach-like substance on him, tied a noose around his neck and even yelled, “This is MAGA country.”

It’s been more than three weeks of investigating and in the midst of all those moving parts, two law enforcement sources claimed Smollett staged the whole incident and paid off the two persons of interest.

According to police, the brothers admitted to following Smollett’s instructions of carrying through with the attack. In fact, they were both acquaintances  of Smollett and involved in the show ‘Empire.’

New video surfaced showing the two persons of interested, the two brothers, buying items they used in the attack.

The video is from a Chicago beauty store, and it shows Ola and Able Osundario purchasing ski masks, sunglasses and a red hat. The purchase was made a day before Smollett’s alleged attack.
