A man died and three women were hospitalized after an accident happened on the corner of Halsted and Madison around 2 a.m.

Police say the driver of a 1999 Pontiac Montana minivan was traveling southbound on South Halsted. The minivan ran a red light crashing into a 2018 Toyota Camry that was traveling west on Madison street.

A 28-year-old man who was riding in the minivan was transported to Stroger Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, while the three other women aged 21,32,27 were taken to local hospitals.

The two people in the Camry were treated on the scene.

Police say the driver of the minivan ran off before they arrived Chicago Police Major Accident Unit is investigating.
