Pritzker's Marijuana Push

Illinois Governor J.B Pritzker says he expects to see marijuana legalized in Illinois by the very start of 2020. And he’s drawing some major support.

Under the proposal, a large portion of the taxes you pay on weed would go toward community reinvestment, mental health and substance abuse treatment and law enforcement training. People 21 years and older would be allowed to posses up to 30 grams. Business would be promoted through a $20 million dollar loan program focused on social equity and fairness. And if passed, low level marijuana convictions would be wiped away.
