SEIU Local 73 is prepared to strike, joining forces with Chicago Teachers Union
With the start of the school year, it's not just CPS teachers who could potentially walkout.Another staff union also started the year without a contract and a strike could be looming.Members of the SEIU Local 73 picketed outside Dawes Elementary School, in the Ashburn neighborhood.SEIU Chief Negotiator Larry Alcoff and Special Education Classroom Assistant Ira Garcia share why the group, of about 7,000 workers, is prepared to strike.
