CPD Enforcers honor Bauer with Mercy Home Scholarship
It’s National Police Week and the Chicago Police Department is celebrating with a football game and now, a new scholarship.
CPD’s ‘The Enforcers’ are getting ready for their 13th Annual Gold Star Bowl. This year’s game will be in honor of all the fallen officers, including Commander Paul Bauer.
The game will be at St. Ignatius College Prep at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018. The coach and president of the team, Sergeant Timothy Kusinski says they haven’t had to honor anyone in six years, until the unfortunate death of Commander Bauer.
The idea of fundraising for an educational scholarship for the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls came from wanting to commemorate Bauer.
The Enforcers will be selling challenge coins to put money toward that scholarship.
