Get to know the stars of Bob ❤️ Abishola

The heartwarming, feel-good, comedy sitcom, Bob ❤️ Abishola, is joining The U’s fall Primetime lineup this September, so weeknights you can watch their unexpected love story come to life.

But before you meet Bob Wheeler and Abishola Adebambo, we’re giving you a chance to get to know the actors behind the roles – Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku.

Billy Gardell

1. Billy Gardell worked at a local comedy club called Bonkerz. He did his first open mic night at the age of 17 after his coworkers bet him that he wouldn’t. He is currently on tour performing standup in 10 different states.

2. He received a daytime Emmy nomination for best gameshow host for Monopoly Millionaires Club in 2016.

3. He made his film debut in the 2002 action-comedy film, Avenging Angelo, starring Sylvestor Stallone, where he played the role of Bruno.

4. Billy Gardell, his father, and his son all share the same name – William Gardell.

5. He is a member of the International Thespian Society Troupe 850 – the only theatre honor society for middle and high school students.

Folake Olowofoyeku

1. Folake was born and raised in Nigeria and is the youngest of 20 children.

2. She moved to the United States at the age of 18 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre from City College of New York and began her acting career performing in off-Broadway plays at the New York City Theatre.

3. In 2021 she was nominated for the NAACP Image Awards Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Bob ❤️ Abishola.

4. She made her television debut in 2005 on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

5. Folake is an accomplished musician who showcased her talent on The Kelly Clarkson Show, joining Kelly’s band for an impressive guitar solo.
