Menu Item of the Week: Rajun Cajun's Samosas
There are a lot of "fusion" spots around, but have you ever heard of an Indian and Southern mash-up? That is what makes this Hyde Park eatery so unique. Rajun Cajun, located at 1459 E. 53rd Street, has been in around for 24 years. It took over a space that was orginally a Southern soul food restaurant and brought an Indian twist.
For example, where else can get Tandoori chicken with a side of mac-and-cheese and collard greens? You can even order Chana Masala with fried chicken and a corn muffin. Rajun Cajun provides the best of both worlds with their freshly prepared food daily.
Although they have so many great items, their samosas are the all-stars.
These crispy, savory pastries are filled with peas, potatoes and a blend of spices. They also come with two sauces — a sweet one with a hint of raspberry and the spicy sauce for those who crave heat.
They are priced at $1.09 per samosa. In other words, this is a great, inexpensive item to try out this week.
