In 1963, Frances “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) is a 17-year-old spending the summer with her family at a resort hotel in the Catskills. During her stay, Baby develops a crush on the resort’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), who is also the leader of the resort’s working-class entertainment staff. Baby’s family sees Johnny as a low-class ne’er-do-well and forbid her from seeing him, but she is willful, in love, and ready to dance.
