The U, WCIU, the exclusive local broadcast home of the Chicago Sky, is set to bring fans even closer to the team with three locally produced half-hour specials branded as Sky Unguarded.

Sky Unguarded gives viewers an insider’s look into the WNBA, women’s basketball, and the inner workings of the Sky front office through interviews with executives and players.

The first of these three specials, Sky Unguarded: Off the Court & Taking Charge, hosted by Chicago Sky Sideline Reporter Kalia Butler, offers a detailed look at how the team fosters connections with the community and its dedicated fanbase. Viewers will experience exclusive footage from the Sky’s WNBA Draft party and meet the Skyriders—passionate superfans who share their excitement and hopes for the upcoming season.

Additionally, the episode spotlights the Sky’s commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs through the Chicago Sky Small Business Cohort (formerly known as the Chicago Sky Small Business Boot Camp). This initiative supports minority- and women-owned small businesses with vital resources, workshops, and mentorships. Audiences will hear firsthand stories from past participants, highlighting the program’s impact on business growth and development.

Sky Unguarded: Off the Court & Taking Charge also explores a unique partnership between the Chicago Sky, students from Columbia College’s School of Fashion, and SOUNDOFF, a premier lifestyle apparel brand and official Sky retail and manufacturing partner. The program follows students as they collaborate with SOUNDOFF to research and design exclusive merchandise for Sky fans.

Three different Sky Unguarded specials will air throughout the WNBA season on The U and The U Too.
