Black History Month 2022: Black History Verified
Every year, February is dedicated to African American history in our country and is known as Black History Month. Black History Month is an annual observance/celebration of the achievements of African Americans and the role that they've played in the history of the United States. The first ever Black History month was first recognized in 1976 and has been recognized by every U.S President thereafter.
What better way to celebrate Black History Month than to learn about how African American culture shaped our very own city of Chicago?! That's why this year, we've teamed up with Chicago historian and TikTok star, Shermann "Dilla" Thomas and CW26's Brandon Pope to bring you a new half-hour special, Black History Verified!
In Black History Verified, you'll learn all about how African American culture has made Chicago what it is today with insight into some of Chicago's most historical landmarks. In addition, you'll meet the Black historical figures that made it all possible.
Get a sneak peek now from the historian himself, Shermann "Dilla" Thomas, or as you may know him from the TikTok world, @6figga_dilla.
Black History Verified airs on CW26 Saturday, February 12 at 1:30P & Saturday, February 26 at 11P. It will also be airing on The U Sunday, February 13 at 12P & Sunday, February 20 at 6:30P.
