CFD Diver Dies In Rescue Operation
The search continues for a boater who went missing on Memorial Day. A Chicago Fire Department diver lost his life in the search.
CFD diver Juan Bucio disappeared out of his partner’s site. When he was found, he was unresponsive. He was rushed to Stroger Hospital while CPR was conducted. However, he did not survive. Bucio joined CFD in 2003, and he’s been on the dive team for more than a decade. He had two sons and nine siblings. Bucio is the 13th member of the Chicago Fire Department to have died in the line of duty since 2000.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has released a statement. He says “when the call came for help, Juan Bucio was the special type of person who answered. He was dedicated to Chicago and keeping us all safe. He will be missed, but his service and selflessness will be remembered.”
