Officer-involved shooting in Mount Greenwood
On Wednesday, an officer-involved shooting broke out near the city's South Side.
The shooting happened at 2:10 a.m. near Pulaski and West 115th Street. It took place about a block away from Marist High School.
Marist released a statement shortly after the shooting, saying students were going to have a late start. Instead of starting 7:45 a.m. all students were expected to arrive at 8:35 a.m.
In terms of the incident, Alsip police officers followed a vehicle to the 4000 block of W. 115th. Sources describe that vehicle as a black sedan possibly a Cadillac or Chrysler.
The driver of that vehicle then slammed into two squad cars. That's when one officer fired his weapon hitting the suspect.
The suspect was taken to Christ Hospital, by the Chicago Fire Department who also assisted. Two Alsip police officers were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
According to police, the suspect is a male with at least one gunshot wound. CPD cannot confirm where he was shot since they were just assisting.
One resident who lives a block away from the scene says the bullets are getting too close to home.
