Mayor Lori Lightfoot Introduces New Community Policing Initiative
Mayor Lori Lightfoot introduced her new "Community Policing Business Public Safety Initiative". This new year-round program, which includes the mayor, CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson and the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection is designed to establish a partnership between the community and local businesses. All 22 districts will have a designated business liaison officer, who will be working alongside the district commander and local businesses. Each district will have a different approach depending on engagement and community interactions. Throughout the year, CPD plans to host violence meetings to directly intervene with businesses that have seen criminal activity near or around them.
