Advocates Work to Save South Lakefront’s Iconic Limestone
South Siders have asked city officials to landmark Promontory Point, a move they say could mark “the beginning of a very happy ending” of a decades-long campaign to save the Point’s limestone barriers. Promontory Point, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, is one of two sites still unfinished under the Shoreline Protection Project, Maxwell Evans reports.
