It's a Blowout Basketball Weekend on Game of the Week!
This weekend on Game of the Week, get ready for one intense matchup and the double-header of the CPS Girls and Boys Championship games!
Lockport vs. Bolingbrook
Friday, watch long standing rivals, Lockport and Bolingbrook go head-to-head in a boys varsity conference game. The Bolingbrook Raiders are currently on a 9-game winning streak and are ranked number one in the Southwest Suburban conference. Their winning streak continued this past Friday, February 4th where they competed against Lincoln-Way East in a conference matchup, and won with a final score of 86-75. In conference games, the Raiders are 8-0, and they hope to continue this momentum this Friday against Lockport.
it will certainly be no "walk in the park" for Bolingbrook to win against the number three-ranked Lockport Porters who are also in the Southwest Suburban conference. The Porters most recent game was this past Tuesday, February 9, when they also took on Lincoln-Way East. Like Bolingbrook, the Porters were able to get the win in this away conference game with a final score of 65-57. This game added to their 3-game winning streak. The CPS Girls and Boys Championship Games
Game of the Week continues on Saturday with the Girls and Boys Chicago Public League Championship games. First up is Kenwood Academy vs. Whitney Young in the girls game at 5P. Kenwood played in the semi-final championship game against Phillips and came out victorious with a final score of 67-26. Kenwood is currently ranked number one in the Chicago Public Red South Central Girls Basketball conference, which is no surprise with their record of 8-0 in conference games.
Whitney Young is also a number one-ranked team, but in the Chicago Public Red North/West Girls Basketball conference. They qualified for the CPS championship game after winning their semi-final matchup this past Sunday against Simeon with a final score of 76-48. The Dolphins have an overall record of 18-5 and a conference game record of 8-0. They're both number one-ranked teams, they both have an undefeated record in conference games, and they've both worked hard to get to the CPS championship game. Who will come out on top? Tomorrow, February 9, see who makes it to the Chicago Public League championship games when the boys face off in the semifinals. Number two-ranked Kenwood Academy plays against number one-ranked Whitney Young for a spot in the championships. The other two teams vying for a spot in the finals are the number one-ranked Simeon high school Wolverines, who are competing against third-ranked Curie Condors.
