Mayor-Elect Says ‘Better Ways’ To Spend Money
Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson said Tuesday he believes “there are better ways” to spend city dollars than on ShotSpotter — but stopped short of promising to cancel the city’s contract with it. Johnson pledged on the campaign trail and his website to end the city’s contract with ShotSpotter, a controversial technology used by police across the city to pick up loud noises and determine if they’re gunshots and require a response.
