Julia Louis-Dreyfus wrote "1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one."
Former Seinfeld actress and Northwestern graduate Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer via social media earlier today.
In the wake of this diagnosis, she posted a message that supported passing universal healthcare.
"…The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."
Dreyfus currently stars in the political satire Veep, in which she plays the Vice President of the United States. She has won six Primetime Emmy Awards for the role. She has often spoken out in support of her political views, which was seen during the most recent presidential election.
We wish Julia Louis-Dreyfus a speedy recovery.
