Pitch competition for teen entrepreneurs in Chicago

The Gray Matter Experience, a black-owned nonprofit, is encouraging entrepreneurship among black teens with their annual pitch competition this weekend.

Two businesses ran by teens have already launched thanks to this program. One of these businesses is called Recruiteen. It is an app that uses GPS positioning to target unemployment in teens. It connects the teens with part-time job opportunities.

The second business is Lip Locker, which is a company offering do-it-yourself lip color solutions to enable women of color to craft the perfect shade to complement their skin tone.

CEO and founder, Britney Robbins, says the goal of the Gray Matter Experience is to stir the mind of young teens hoping to bring an idea to light.

The event is Saturday, May 19, 2018, at noon. Ticket information and location can be found by here.
