Six people shot after Chicago rapper funeral
It was described as a pandemonium, right outside a church on the city's South Side. Shots rang out as a Chicago rapper was laid to rest and six people were shot.
The shooting happened at around 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, just across the street from a daycare center. A woman who works at the center told the media the kids she was caring for knew what was going on and ducked for cover.
At least six people were shot as they were leaving Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church. Friends and family gathered for the funeral service of Chicago rapper Vantrease R. Criss, who went by the name Dooski Tha Man.
Criss was shot on October 9th; he was taken to the hospital where he later died. The victims in Monday’s shooting range from 18 to 27 years old, males and a female.
The most critical a 21-year-old shot in the head. Chicago police confirmed as of now, there are no fatalities associated with this shooting. Many details including motive and suspects are still unconfirmed.
Police encourage anyone with information to submit a tip, even if it is anonymously.
One detail CPD explains is that since 2012, they've increased their surveillance of gang funerals. They're investigating if that was the case here.
