Suspect in custody for the death of CPD Commander Paul Bauer
Chicago continues to mourn the loss of Commander Paul Bauer, who was not only a police officer but a friend to the communities that he served. On February 13, at approximately 2PM, Commander Bauer was shot and killed while responding to a call near the Thompson Center.
The suspect was taken away from the scene and a weapon was recovered, but as of this writing, the suspect's identity has not been disclosed. However, it has been noted that the suspect has a lengthy criminal history, including convictions of armed robbery, drug possession and gun charges.
