The sweetened beverage tax debate continues

According to DNAInfo, County commissioners have agreed to send a measure to repeal the beverage tax for consideration at the Cook County Board of Commissioners meeting on October 10. The Sweetened Beverage Tax has only been in effect for six weeks, but has sparked numerous debates over county funding.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is a strong supporter of the tax as a way to generate revenue for Cook County and to discourage constituents from unhealthy choices.

However, many others feel the tax is excessive. The long debate over the tax will continue as some push for an appeal. What do you think?
